Board Finder

Let us help you choose the right board for you!

When trying to narrow a list of boards down to what option is best for you, we start with the most basic of questions.

How will the board be used?

If you’re looking for a board that does well in a variety of conditions and can be used by riders of all skill levels and sizes, we’d recommend looking at an ‘All-Around’ board. They have a round nose and are fairly wide. All Around boards are stable, easy to use, and great fun. Shown below is our 11'2" All Day that is one of our most popular 'All Around' boards.

If you’re someone who’s primary reason for being out on a board is exercise, or you’re the type that likes a board with just a bit more glide with every stroke, then a touring style (V-nose) board is likely a better option. You’re giving up some of the stability of the all-around shape for a little more performance. Shown below is the Journey, one of our most popular 'Touring' boards.

If you have a feel for what shape you’re leaning toward, let’s make this easy and start with a ‘default’ choice in the Greyduck line-up that would be the logical fit for each shape:

All-Around 'default' choice:

Our starting point for consideration is the 10'8" Coast, shown below.

Why the Coast (or Coast Wood) is our default ‘All Around’ recommendation:

Size: It’s a high volume board, meaning that it will float just about any size of rider (For even more stability or load carrying capacity, check out the 11'6" Coast or 11'6" Coast Wood). It's a board that's fun for the whole family.

Construction: It’s built using our Thermo-formed construction. The perfect blend of light weight and durability.

Cost: At $1,049, it’s a great value in terms of performance per dollar spent.

How our other ‘All-Around’ options in the line-up compare to the Coast and why you may choose them:

11'2" All Day / All Day Zebrawood – High-end epoxy and wood veneer construction. It’s a better looking, higher performing, and more full featured board than the Coast, but at a higher price. It’s the best choice for All-around paddlers who want a more refined and higher-end board.

Daybreak Zebrawood – Same upgrades you get with the All Day, but in a shape that is dialed in for riders < 200 lbs.

All Day HIPtech construction – Same benefits listed for the regular All Day, just in a more bomber construction that can handle abuse.

Touring 'default' choice:

Our starting point for touring board consideration is the 11'6" Journey TF, shown below.

Why the Journey Thermo-formed is our default ‘Touring’ recommendation:

Size: This is our widest board in the ‘Touring’ shape. It is our most stable touring board and comfortable for riders of all sizes.

Construction: It’s built using our Thermo-formed construction. The perfect blend of light weight and durability.

Cost: At $1,099, it’s a great touring board at a very reasonable price.

How our other ‘Touring’ options in the line-up compare to the Journey TF and why you may choose them:

12'6" Journey Zebrawood - High-end epoxy and wood veneer construction that is comfortable for riders of almost any size. It’s a better looking, higher performing, lighter weight, and more full featured board than the Loggerhead, but at a higher price. It’s the perfect choice for riders who want the best touring board we offer.

11'6" Journey / Journey Zebrawood – Same upgrades as in the 12'6" Journey, but in a shape that is dialed in for riders < 200 lbs.

12'6" / 14' Quetico – The ultimate board for extended adventure touring. With the Greyduck Portage system, you’re looking at the gold standard in touring versatility and a board that can handle loads. Smaller riders should go for the 12'6", larger riders the 14'. Choose epoxy construction as your lightest weight option, or HIPtech as the more bomber, heavy duty construction.

Still not sure?

Consider our 11'2" All Day Hybrid or 12' Coast Hybrid - These boards combine the great tracking of a touring board with the stability of an all-around board. They are super pleasant in a variety of conditions and can flex to meet the needs of the day.
